21st Century Landscapes

21st Century Landscapes are the name of the group of artworks that include real found rocks. The rocks are altered, manipulated and replicated as we evolve our environment. The works are not some representation of our world they are it.

Recursions

Recursions is a collaboration between brothers Brendan James Arnold (electronics) and Matthew Roy Arnold (sculpture)

The works are interactive light sculpture taking form as repeating and morphing objects. using an array of mixed media such as plaster, glass, silicone, organic matter, resin, wood, metal, stone the work give a scenic of our abstract reality we live today. With both brothers interests in the powers of creation and how its flawed with errors, witnessing todays technologies and how society has the possibility to create almost anything. With virtual and real environments, cloning and creating, we can't help but think were  are becoming a version of the flawed Gods of ancient greece that had these same powers over us. These complex layered artworks could be a grasp on our bearing of our reality by mapping this modern landscape, or they could be adding to its ever moor abstraction.

The pieces light up in the dark and respond with UV when people come close. The work also uses a lot of clarity in the making for example the robotics are on show and have been drawn and printed in patterns, the plugs and wire is transparent and the framework is part of the circuits.

Manifestations

Manifestations is a series of sculptures by collaborators Matthew Roy Arnold, Daniel Cioccoloni and Brendan James Arnold.

The works provide a focal point for meditation on our relationship with real and virtual spaces as well a serving as an example of how digital technology can be used to build on traditional sculptural practice. The pieces feature sounds and lighting which respond to the way a viewers approaches the works revealing new meanings in the physical forms

Tower

Tower is a sculpture by Matthew Roy Arnold with sound composed and designed by Daniel Cioccoloni

It was unanimous - makers should make - and so construction of the Tower began.

During this time, discussions took place - the makers debated. All ideas were embraced and moulded into the rock.

Then it was complete, its original forms changed beyond use and recognition.  The most important thing though, is that it was made.

The Tower is an immersive sculpture, you are invited to put your head inside and explore the sculptures and paintings within.
